WHITE OAK SAWMILL
CHIPS
In the early days of sawmills, the wood that was removed from the outside of the log ,known as slabs, would be sold to neighbors for firewood or simply stacked outside the mill or maybe used as crude building material.
Thanks to modern machinery, these “slabs” today are run through a huge chipper machine and turned into a small “chip” of wood which are loaded into a trailer and delivered to our local paper mill and processed into paper for books, newspapers, paper towel etc.
Chips of wood are processed into paper for books, newspapers and paper towels.
